Hot air ballooning

Experience the fun sensation of being in a Hot Air Balloon. These balloons fly high above the Atherton Tablelands, allowing you to see the amazing landscape below. Located in Mareeba, they have one of the largest fleets of hot air balloons in Australia and a highly trained crew to maximise your enjoyment. There’s also a locally-sourced feast when you land, including fresh fruit, muffins, pastries and quiche. This experience goes for eighty minutes, giving you plenty of time to enjoy the glorious vista of the Atherton Tablelands from your hot air balloon.

Horse riding

Opened in 1987, Tait’s Wongabel Stables is in Atherton and is operated by Sheila Tait. Tait’s Wongabel Stables offers lessons for all abilities and all ages. Beginners can enjoy a one-hour lesson which teaches them to handle a horse. More experienced horse riders can enjoy a amazing half-day or full-day rides in the scenic beauty of the Atherton Tablelands. Tait’s Wongabel Stable has horse rides for everyone and have some of the most experienced riders to teach you.

Helicopter flights

Rafting

They’ve been operating since 1984, so know just how to give you all the action with a safe and fun rafting trip in the beautiful rainforest. From The Canopy, you must go rafting on the Tully River. It’s about 2 hours south of us and has the reputation of being Australia’s best rafting river. Enjoy the spectacular scenery of the magnificent Tully River on a full day tour.
